Moose & Georgie Mosaics
About the Artist

Who are Moose and Georgie?

They are Monica Lewis' cute and furry kittens.

She adopted them on Mother's Day. Her son named one Moose, and Monica named the other Georgie.

Their names make you smile and have such a fun ring to them, that Monica named her business after them!!!

The idea for mosaics came in a round-about way. Monica worked in a wonderful pottery studio in Venice, California, in the late 80's and early 90's. After that, most of her art talents went into the creation of grade school classroom projects and fiberglass sculptures for her house, that are on display for the holidays.

Most recently, she created a quilt for a school auction that fetched a whopping $6,500.00!!!

Which brings us to mosaics. The quilts were very inspiring and full of color and life, matching patterns with colors and textures, but sitting at the sewing machine just wasn't her thing!

She was helping her son put together a house warming gift for Grandma and Grandpa: A mosaic bird house. It was very rudimentary, but it just felt good to use her hands, mixing grout and mortar, choosing tile.

Now Monica is in full swing, mixing and matching patterns, colors, and textures... just using tile, glass and grout instead!
